Let's Compare: Supermarket Vs Subscription Nappies! (Aka: Save Your Time & Money)

Sick of thinking about nappies? Yeah, same.

When it comes to choosing the best option for your baby's nappy needs, many parents find themselves torn between convenience and affordability.

Sure, we can head down to cheaper (and generally more cheerful) Aldi for our Nappy Pants (or head to not-so-cheap Woolworths/Coles) but did you know there was an alternative? A little secret that only a few know about, is to purchase nappy essentials using Amazon 'Subscribe and Save'. This could be the mecca of saving both time AND money, so lets have a look at how the options compare...

Let's Compare!

Let's have a look at two very popular and easily accessible brands of nappy pants in the Australian market at the moment.

I need some more Size 5 nappies for my almost 2-year-old so have been curious to see if a subscription would be worth it - factoring in the cost, time and impact on my mental load.

After putting together this table, I immediately called Steve to let him know we didn't need to worry about nappies for the next 3 weeks. Given the price difference between Aldi and Amazon was $0.12/nappy, I will very happily pay an extra amount 60c a day to NOT have to think about whether we are running low/need some more/factoring it into my next shopping trip.

After doing this little exercise, what have I learned so far?
  • Never EVER will I buy nappy pants from Woolworths (or Coles, I looked it up - it's the same price) again.
  • I have realised why I spend so much time wondering how many nappies I have - one bag of nappy pants isn't even going to last me the week!
  • It really comes down to the question of whether I want to spend any time wondering if I have enough nappies for the next 'x' amount of days (answer = no.)
  • When I factor in the time it takes to get to Aldi (my closest one is about a 15-minute drive) and the petrol I'm using, I can confidently say that Amazon is the better option for every reason.

What would work best for you?

Ask yourself these questions:

  • Do you ever have that 'oh no' moment of questioning if you have enough nappies to last you through the day or night?
  • Are you looking for ways to reduce your mental load (and weekly shopping list!), so you can get through your weekly trip to the shops with minimal fuss each week?
  • Are you currently shopping at Woolworths or Coles and paying a bloody fortune?

If you answered 'Yes!' to any of the above, then you'll most likely really benefit from a nappy subscription.

Amazon have a huge range of brands, including Huggies, BabyLove and Rascal nappies so definitely worth checking out. Especially if you are buying any of those brands from Coles or Woolworths and want to save not only time but money as well...

Given the super interesting results above, I've decided to do a post on 'your baby's first year of nappies' so stay tuned for more to come in the wide world of nappies!

Send this to your friends who may just be wasting a whole heap of time, energy and money on purchasing their nappy essentials from Coles or Woolworths.
